Love.
"They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should be just friends' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love.”-Neil Gaiman

Sing
Okay, so I want to learn how to play the acoustic guitar and play these songs:
1. You remind me of home- death cab for cutie
2. A walk through hell-say anything
3. First day of my life-bright eyes
4. The way I feel inside-the zombies
5. A wish-gregory and the hawk
6. Across the universe-fiona apple
7. To be alone with you-sufjan stevens
8. I will follow you into the dark-death cab for cutie

La Soledad.
I'm so sad. I just saw an older man walking around the mall aimlessly. Almost as if he was lost or abandoned. It broke my heart.
Nobody notices (or cares) about the elderly. It's almost as if they're invisible.
I don't understand how people don't feel endeared when they see a little old man or woman.
It seems people don't realize that one day we'll be like them...and we'd want someone (anyone) to care.

Presidential Election '08!
Ok so i didn't watch the entire thing but I'm currently watching it on youtube. Before I felt indifferent towards McCain, now I'm terrified of what he is going to be ( another Bush).. I'm not crazy about Obama either but If I had to choose between these two, I would choose Obama, hands down.
Key points:
Senator McCain offered nothing but more of the same failed Bush policies, and Barack Obama made a forceful case for change in our economy and our foreign policy. While Senator McCain wants to keep giving huge tax cuts to corporations and said nothing about the challenges Americans are facing in their daily lives, Barack Obama will provide tax cuts for the middle class, affordable health care, and a new energy economy that creates millions of jobs. While foreign policy was supposed to be John McCain's top issue, Barack Obama noted that the misguided war in Iraq should end as soon as possible so that we can finish the fight against al Qaeda in Afghanistan.
How many times McCain mentioned
CHANGE: 1 time
MIDDLE CLASS: not once
John McCain lied right out off the bat during tonight's debate, claiming that he had warned us about the financial crisis that we are now facing. But in November, 2007 he admitted that he hadn't seen the mortgage crisis -- the root of today's financial crisis -- coming.
The video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsKEIAS_F0s
Obama was wearing a flag pin, McCain isn't (Not a big deal, but still...you ARE running for president)
McCain mentioned Iran being a global threat. Sounds like another Bush looking to start yet another war. He also ranted about the height difference between north and south koreans, which I didn't really see the point of.
Also, Sarah Palin is the biggest idiot I've ever seen (THANK GOD SHE WASN'T THERE!). God help us if McCain wins.
AND, I am surprised he didn't use his whole "I'm a veteran, wa wa wa" tactic. That's not a good thing! That means you support war and fucking America's double standards.
EEEEKKK...
I think i'm just gonna move to Ireland.

Alas, daily life is a bore.
::yawn:: at work again, after another day of school...It's friday and NO SALES(what the hell!) but it's okay, I'm getting used to not many sales. I think Deyanira and Nada are getting used to it too..
Well, i'm falling into the routine of school mon-friday, work friday and saturday nights. sounds fun, right?
No. Not really. It actually kinda stinks but I figure the harder I work in both school and work, the more rewarded I will be, right?
Now that's optimism!
Okie..well, only thing fairly interesting that happened today was that this guy came up to me and randomly started a conversation with me. I guess he was trying to hit on me but I figure apart from that, he gave me some valuable information
regarding the new Apple Store that just opened up in the mall(well, I guess it wasn't that valuable, but he DID tell me that they were hiring at $13 an hour!)
SO..after I get my new glassses, I'm going to stop by and pick up an application because I figure I'm only working 2 days at RS and getting basically nothing in my check, so might as well look at other options (I won't leave RS, i'll just have this as a back-up and for more income ;) )
Anywho, that was basically the highlight of my day (not the guy, but the job part)
Is it 10 yet? I'm going crazy!!!!

Don't ask me to explain...
kay, since I have trouble coming up with title names, I used the ol' ipod shuffle thing to name this one..song by Of Montreal :)
Today was my third day of school and I have attended all my classes of this semester. Here's the run-down..
1. Psych of Adjustment-
Professor Houghton: looks like crypt-keeper, but seems very nice and understanding. Can make you feel comfortable and really seems to care about the class. *Lori( and Kate!) in class*
2. Contemp. Math-
Professor Cutler: looks like Rivers Cuomo from Weezer. Probably a new professor, due to his somewhat flightly and nervous appearance(hands were trembling when he was passing out the syllabus). Seems nice, however. Also, very nerdy and wears cheetah print (?) glasses, which can either mean he's very fashionable or very gay. *Steph in class*
3. Intro. to Cognitive Science-
Professor Townsend: sounds and looks like he wants to kill us and himself. Very detached, but might just be old and tired. Most likely a genius. Does not look like he will cut slack. Class might either be extremely informative and exciting(and make me decide to minor in Cog. Science) or might be absolutely boring(and might make me despise Cog. Science) *Noelle's friend Chokie in this class, very nice girl. Seems to be really into Twilight :) *
4. Spanish 4-
Professor Soto: ahh, that Professor Soto...what to say other than he's already proving to be inconsiderate and way too demanding( got this from first day) Seems nice to people who can actually carry a conversation in Spanish. I'm not worried for me, but rather the poor non-hispanic souls who have to take that class. *Class with really annoying older lady who seems to always talk and has a need to prove she can speak fluent Spanish, even though she can't*
5. Child Psychology-
Professor Lakusta: Nice younger lady, kinda looks like a mix between Tina Fey and Selma Blair. Seems very understanding and into kids, A LOT. Made us go around room and talk about ourselves..yuck. *Kate from Psych of Adjustment in this class. Cool girl. Is going into publishing for "The Aquarian", a mag about music. Will be paid to go to concerts and write reviews. Totally jealous of her job*

Sage Proverbe
Okay, bored at work again. Have visited facebook and AOL ridiculous amounts of time.
Decided to post some of my most recent favorite quotes/poems.
"Humility is the most difficult of all virtues to achieve: nothing dies harder than the desire to think well of oneself." -T.S Eliot
"If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain."
-Emily Dickinson
More than anyone on the earth and i
like you better than everything in the sky
-sunlight and singing welcome your coming
although winter may be everywhere
with such a silence and such a darkness
noone can quite begin to guess
(except my life)the true time of year-
and if what calls itself a world should have
the luck to hear such singing(or glimpse such
sunlight as will leap higher than high
through gayer than gayest someone's heart at your each
nearness)everyone certainly would(my
most beautiful darling)believe in nothing but love
-E.E Cummings(from i love you much(most beautiful darling)
"When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others.”
-Unknown.

No fucking sales AT ALL for a week. WTF. I hope I don't get fired.
And Nick is away at school. Therefore, won't hear from him much.
ALSO, I have no car. and no money.
AND Lucy, the Finnish Spitz, ran away yesterday. Spent about half and hour running around trying to catch her.
I hope she's okay and didn't get hit by a car.

Bushisms!
Okay, so i'm at work and I decide to google Bushisms, just for laughs..SO here are my faves:
1."Families is where our nation finds hope, where wings take dream."
2. "I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family."
3. "They misunderestimated me."
4. "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."
5. "Rarely is the questioned asked: Is our children learning?"
6. "And they have no disregard for human life." --George W. Bush, on the brutality of Afghan fighters
7. "I'll be long gone before some smart person ever figures out what happened inside this Oval Office."
8. "I can press when there needs to be pressed; I can hold hands when there needs to be -- hold hands." --George W. Bush, on how he can contribute to the Middle East peace process,
9. "One of my concerns is that the health care not be as good as it can possibly be."
HAHAHAHAHAHA.

50 years! and Lucy: The Finnish Spitz
The past few days were hectic! On the 21st, it was my anniversary with Nicky, the 22nd was Nick's birthday, and the 23rd was Nick's grandparent's 50th Wedding Anniversary. Phew! Right now, I'm at work (my first Sunday working) and I'm waiting for somebody (anybody!) to come by and buy a program.
In the meantime, I'm doing a little online research to find the breed of this dog my family found yesterday. The dog(a girl by the way) has very foxish features so I decided to focus on that. SO I googled "dog with fox features" and came upon a breed named "Finnish Spitz". I think it's a match. Lucy (the name I gave her) seems like a sweet dog, but I'm hoping her owners will respond to the flyers we put up. She doesn't get along well with my other dog, Mr. Patas, so there's no way we can keep her...
Last night was wonderful. The whole romance of the night was amazing. Imagine, 50 years with someone. That's more than Nick's and my age combined. It was very endearing to see a couple together after so many years. I hope I get to have that someday. Also, I must say, Nick's family has very good genes. Both his grandma and grandpa were quite the lookers. That's probably why Nick is such a cutie.

Idealism
Okay, so according to the Keirsey Temperament Sorter(which I had to take for my Psych of Adjustment course) , I'm an idealist...
Idealists are enthusiastic, they trust their intuition, yearn for romance, seek their true self, prize meaningful relationships, and dream of attaining wisdom.
Idealists pride themselves on being loving, kindhearted, and authentic.
Idealists tend to be giving, trusting, spiritual, and they are focused on personal journeys and human potentials.
Idealists make intense mates, nurturing parents, and inspirational leaders.
Idealists, as a temperament, are passionately concerned with personal growth and development. Idealists strive to discover who they are and how they can become their best possible self -- always this quest for self-knowledge and self-improvement drives their imagination. And they want to help others make the journey. Idealists are naturally drawn to working with people, and whether in education or counseling, in social services or personnel work, in journalism or the ministry, they are gifted at helping others find their way in life, often inspiring them to grow as individuals and to fulfill their potentials.
Idealists are sure that friendly cooperation is the best way for people to achieve their goals. Conflict and confrontation upset them because they seem to put up angry barriers between people. Idealists dream of creating harmonious, even caring personal relations, and they have a unique talent for helping people get along with each other and work together for the good of all. Such interpersonal harmony might be a romantic ideal, but then Idealists are incurable romantics who prefer to focus on what might be, rather than what is. The real, practical world is only a starting place for Idealists; they believe that life is filled with possibilities waiting to be realized, rich with meanings calling out to be understood. This idea of a mystical or spiritual dimension to life, the "not visible" or the "not yet" that can only be known through intuition or by a leap of faith, is far more important to Idealists than the world of material things.
Highly ethical in their actions, Idealists hold themselves to a strict standard of personal integrity. They must be true to themselves and to others, and they can be quite hard on themselves when they are dishonest, or when they are false or insincere. More often, however, Idealists are the very soul of kindness. Particularly in their personal relationships, Idealists are without question filled with love and good will. They believe in giving of themselves to help others; they cherish a few warm, sensitive friendships; they strive for a special rapport with their children; and in marriage they wish to find a "soulmate," someone with whom they can bond emotionally and spiritually, sharing their deepest feelings and their complex inner worlds.
Idealists are relatively rare, making up no more than 15 to 20 percent of the population. But their ability to inspire people with their enthusiasm and their idealism has given them influence far beyond their numbers.
Gandhi was an idealist. Hehehe, this makes me feel pretty awesome about myself :)

Come And Go With Me
Did the same to this title. Named after the song by the Del-Vikings :)

This is an old photo I took sometime last summer while on the little train ride in Van Saun Park. I wish I was there. I want to be at a park, a zoo, anywhere with grass and animals. I'm tired of being in a cold, human-filled, steel structure. I want to lie down on the grass and nap.

I Was Never Young
Haha, funny title, right? I was having trouble coming up with a title and so I decided to put my ipod on shuffle and name this post after the very first song that came up, which was "I was Never Young" by Of Montreal :)
Okay..so i'm back at work (which is where I do all my blogging) and I'm bored (what a surprise, right?) On the plus side, I have my nifty new ipod (with a super nifty new i-wrapz cover in black and pink) with me, which calls out to me to touch it and caress it. It's like my new baby, hehe..
Ugh..I keep scratching the side of my face (which can mean I'm either having an allergic reaction to something or i'm breaking out, eek!) or maybe i'm just stressed out, which is probably it because I have a lot of things bugging me right now,like...
1. My stupid car, which shuts off whenever i'm at a red light.
2. Not making that many sales..
3. Nick going back to school in Ewing.
4. Lori's party on Saturday, which can either be a total blast or a total disaster.
5. Not having enough money to buy my textbooks.
6. Meeting up with this lady on Sunday for a baby-sitting job.
7. My dog not eating or doing anything at all, for that matter.
8. Mr. Tuxedo cat from my street being run over by a car (I saw him in the middle of the road, with blood still coming out from his head :'( )
Phew, so that's it. It was kinda therapeutic to put it in list form instead of having it all float around in my head.
So anyways, lately I've been feeling like I have a problem. A spending problem. I've blown so much money this summer. On what, I honestly have no idea. SO that leads me to believe that I have a spending problem. Most likely I'm stressed out or I'm feeling like I can buy my happiness. Logically, I know this can't happen. But everytime I see something I like, I obsess over it until I end up going back and buying it. The way I'm going, I won't be able to afford a candy bar at school.
::sigh:: it's a problem. a real problem. (yes, i totally quoted Pongo from 101 Dalmatians. It's the scene where he's looking out his window and looks at the girl dogs passing by, just in case you don't remember)

Zebra-stripes, scarves, and Jackie O glasses! Oh My!
Okay, so this is my third post of the day and it's only 2:30. I am losing my mind. Grrr..I want it to be 4 already so I can leave and maybe do a bit of shoppin' at Mandee's. I saw a zebra striped sweater there a couple days ago and maybe (just maybe!) it might still be there. If it is, I will consider it a sign from the clothes gods that it is the sweater for me. I don't know what is it with me lately. I have grown fond of all things with animal print. I remember I used to find them so silly. I would scoff at my mother, who would hold up a tiger-print top and wink at me almost every time we went into a store. But now, things have changed. I LIKE tiger-print and zebra and whatever other animals prints exist. I like them all. My love for animal prints began one day while casually shopping around. Usually when I shop I just go find what I came in for and buy it. I don't really dawdle around. But that day, I decided to snoop around. Something tiger-y caught my eye. I turned around and saw it, hanging there, beckoning me. I couldn't help but glide towards it and hold it against myself. I thought, whoa, not bad, not bad at all. So...then I went right into the fitting room, tried it on, and then left the store as an animal-print top owning woman.
Yea, I guess it's not a big deal. But to me, animal-print (much like scarves and big Jackie O glasses) represent womanhood. So I was strangely happy that I had developed a taste for all things animal-y.

Eeek!
Summer is practically over and I didn't do much of anything except work and stay home :(
Things I wish I had done this summer :
1. Gone to Adventure Aquarium ( I love me some aquariums)
2. Actually gone to APW and seen Radiohead :'(
3. Visited the Bodies Exhibit in NY.
4. Finished reading Eclipse and maybe Breaking Dawn.
5. Had at least $1,000 in my bank account (very far away from this one)
6. Bought new film for my fisheye :'(
7. Got in shape (definitely will do this next semester, even if it kills me!)
8. Bought a polaroid.
9. Learned how to swim properly.
10. Gone to a drive-in theatre.
11. Got a tan.
Okay, so that list kinda depressed me..SO here's what I did accomplish
1. Created a blog!
2. Did Peace Camp.
3. Found a better job than Vikki's
4. Finished at least 4 books.
5. Got side-bangs ( still not accomplished, but will do so very soon!)
6. purchased a nifty new green ipod. (emphasis on the nifty)
7. Went to 2 amusement parks.
8. Ate a Pecan Cinnabon (just a couple minutes ago actually, I had never tried one before)
9. Fell back in love with making cd's.
10. Made a few new buddies at Peace Camp!
11. Got Nicole into the Twilight series.
12. Learned French (still in the process! but will be good by, say, mid-semester)
Phew, okay, so I feel a little better now..yay! :)
So anyway, I'm here. Bored. Reading "Love is a Mixtape" by Rob Sheffield (the editor for Rolling Stones mag) and I must say, it's quite endearing. I'm still not done with it yet, but it's proving to be very sweet. The book has a lot of music in it, which is always a plus because I do love music. It also has romance, as Rob tells his tragic love story between him and Renee. I'm currently at the saddest part in the book (the part where she suddenly dies from a pulmonary embolism. Which, by the way, is one of the most scariest things in the world)
**Side-note: This really nice old lady just walked by the kiosk (as I was typing away like a maniac) and picked up a dime. She gave it to me and said "See a dime and pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck". Aww :) I'm pretty sure it's "see a penny" not "see a dime" but still. Put a smile on my face.
Ok, so back to the story. So, Renee dies and Rob is now alone, left wandering around with his beloved Renee gone. At one point I almost felt like crying because he describes his pain in such a real way. He's not being overly dramatic like any other author would, but he's being so real about it, which is making it even sadder. Reading it got me thinking about death and such (which is something I think about anyway because I like to think too much) I started wondering, wow, Renee was healthy and young. She died because of some random vein popping in her leg that traveled up to her heart, causing a clot and killing her in less than a minute. It was purely just bad luck. And that really sucks. Usually people who die have some kind of warning, you know. Like they're told they have cancer or lung failure or something. They're not positive they're gonna die, but they are aware of something wrong with them. But with this, she just died. Just collapsed on the floor while Rob was making her breakfast. Sudden death like that is so scary, it just reminds you of how you're so lucky you lived through that last hour.
"Love is a mixtape" also got me thinking about marriage and actually living with the person you love. Ever since I was little, I always thought that the fun part of marriage was not the ceremony itself (although that's fun too) but the actual daily married life. Like waking up with your new husband and eating breakfast or cuddling in bed. Like having to wake him up because he has work or because you guys have errands to do. I always found things like that more romantic than the ceremony and reception. Thinking about things like that makes me all fuzzy inside :)
So anyways..Rob is making me think about death and marriage and music. Quite a mix, huh?

'Ello!
I'm at work again, after another day at Peace Camp. It's weird, time flies when I'm there but snails on at work. UGH, make it be 9:30! Haven't had anybody come to the kiosk to ask about RS. As soon as they hear the price they practically run screaming. I don't blame them. I mean, $549 for a computer software? Yes, a very good computer software, but $549?! I would never buy it myself but i'm sure glad others do...
So..being as I was starved for human interaction I approached the nice young man at the Customer Service Booth to have a little chat. Ehh, he was nice but not very talkative. What is it with people? I mean, I'm super shy but come on, open up a little, don't make me feel as if i'm some weirdo for trying to talk to you. I did get him to sign my petition for PETA to protect piggies though. Hopefully I get more signatures and can send it in soon!
Tommorrow's another day at Peace Camp, another day of feeling a little awkward and a little duh. Sometimes I think too much. About everything. Like if i'll ever be able to give good advice and talk like a real psychologist. I have to stop thinking so much and I def have to stop criticizing myself. But it's so hard. It really is.

Air
So..I'm at work right now and two songs are stuck in my head.."Street spirit" by Radiohead and "Playground love" by Air. Beautiful songs, really. Anyways, THIS IS MY FIRST POST, and i'm so excited and I just can't hide it, i'm about to lose control and I think I like it. Haha...
So..like I said, this is my very first BLOG! I didn't catch the fad before but now I've been bitten by the Blog virus! Luckily, my current job allows me to access the internet for long periods of time so this will (hopefully!) not be my first and only post...
Anyhoo, important going-ons in my life right now are...PEACE CAMP!
Yay for Peace Camp! Today was the first day and It went pretty smooth. I enjoyed it and met a whole bunch of new people. Talked a lot to kids with mild to moderate mental disorders. Fun,right?
Grr...time really goes slow when you're at work. Thankfully, I got my new blog to keep me entertained :)
but for now, I think I'm done. My fingers kinda hurt, so be back tommorrow with more!
